(More customer reviews)At the moment, my hairstyle can be best identified as a classic 1950's side-part. Short and tapered on the sides and back, and a little longer on the top. I used to sport a buzz cut, so when I read the reviews for American Crew Grooming Cream, I was convinced that this was the product that I had been looking for which could keep my new side-part under control, glossy, and well shaped. Initially, the grooming cream had a neither pleasant nor unpleasant smell which was a nice surprise. The scent somewhat reminds me of recently molded plastic, undetectable to most people and not bothersome. When taking it out of the container, it is certainly very heavy and viscous as you begin to rub into your hands and hair. Since I bought the product, my daily use has been about a palm full of grooming cream, any more would make my hair un-combable. Despite my initial expectations, this product has disappointed me and caused me a bit of embarrassment. For starters, despite its claim that it creates "high shine," this product is misleading because I have jet black hair (being a Latino man) and I nor others have noticed additional shine. To be honest, I don't see a difference in my hair's shine with or without the product. I was hoping that my hair would have a glow or a reflection under light, but I have not seen this at all. Therefore, this claim falls short of what they guarantee. Shape and texture is very important for someone with my cut because the side-part has areas where it soars (such as the front, which resembles a flatter pomp) and other areas where its neatly and finely combed (the back and the very top). Unfortunately, on almost every occasion there is a time in the afternoon when I need to brush part of the front of my pomp back and to the side because its lost its shape and texture. In addition, some of the hairs on the back of my head begin to creep up and I am constantly in the restroom dampening these hairs to settle them down. Overall, my haircut loses its neat and finely combed shape a few hours after applying this molding cream. I recommend this product for anyone who doesn't have messy or finely combed cuts that needs a moderately strong pomade. If you're like me and need a strong, glossy, and viscous pomade, I encourage you to look elsewhere for a better product.
