(More customer reviews)This is the best price anywhere for this product, but if you are considering multiple Amika products, then take a look at the "combo pak" offered on Amazon as well. It includes this product, plus a tourmaline curler (check this out if you have long, curly hair and want spiral curls!) and a travel size blowdryer and diffuser. It is even a better value overall. Do not buy this product from a vendor in the mall. Apparently they all operate the same way. They give you a receipt that says "No Refunds - Exchanges Only". In addition, you will think that you're getting a great deal paying twice this price. I know, because it happened to me yesterday. The product seems to work as advertised, but may not be much better than comparable products you can find for an even lower price. Unlike the Chi that I have had for a number of years now, this straightener has multiple heat settings. It comes in a variety of colors and appears to be well-made and sturdy. Amika claims that the product is more versatile because it has floating ceramic plates that allow you to easily use the product to straighten or curl your hair. Just be aware that this is a fair price and be forewarned about mall vendors hawking this product. They are quite convincing! You should pay no more than $60 for this product, especially if color is not an issue. This product is also most likely identical to the HerStyler hair styler also sold online and at mall kiosks. It also is supposedly identical to Corioliss brand. Go to find your fashion to find a great deal on a herstyler ceramic hair styler. The reviews of all of Amika and Her Styler are very good for the most part except the concern is that the ceramic plates will break if the iron is dropped. So a good warranty is important.
So here's an update: I paid way too much at the mall kiosk for the hair styler and separate tourmaline curler, but for those of you yet to buy, here's another option - consider it an inexpensive experiment. Go to your local Big Lots and buy a Style Elements 1 inch ceramic hair straightener for $12. Now compare it with your friend's or family member's 1.5 inch Amika hair styler. Hmmmm......interesting! The two hair stylers in black look the same with the same decorative pattern, are the exact same dimensions, with ceramic plates that look the same and are the same size, and have virtually identical specs, with the Style Elements offering a slightly higher heat setting and an on/off indicator light, and no warranty other than the store return policy. I have tested out the Style Elements hair styler after applying Sally Beauty argan oil, and it works just fine for a fraction of a fraction of the suggested retail price of $200 for the Amika hair styler. Happy Experimenting!
