Natural Instincts Brass Free, Non-Permanent
Medium Brown
(+)No Ammonia
(+)Smells decent
(+)Good conditioner/gloves
(-)Not good for gray or extreme brassiness
...if your hair is really brassy it's not so effective. It might be more effective if left on longer than 10 minutes, but I found that Nice N Easy Cool Medium Brown was better for extreme brassiness. Clairol Nice 'n Easy Color, 117D Natural Medium Cool Brown (Pack of 3) Then with the really orange tones gone, Brass Free is good for touch ups. I like that it's less damaging than permanent hair dye and doesn't give you roots since it washes out.
***UPDATE: I've been researching product ingredients lately using the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database & the ingredients for this are pretty terrible. One is even listed as a "possible mutagen" (P-Aminophenol). Brass Free is rated a 9-HIGH hazard on a scale of 0-10. This may work alright, but I no longer recommend it to anyone. Try Clairol Loving Care (non-permanent) or Naturtint (permanent) instead. Both have less toxic ingredients.
